It was no problem to get up early! I think it was the first night in my life, where I wished that the night will be over at one o´clock at night. It was a freezing draft going through the car, so that on the next morning the inner walls were covered with ice. The blankets we put over our sleeping bags didn’t stay in place, so that the cold could go through our sleeping bags who were just made for african climats.
At six o’clock in the morning we started our car in foggy and freezing austrian weather to go towards the Loibl-Pass, where we wanted to have breakfast and a nice view over the Alps and hopefully see a nice sunrise. Unfortunately the street was a serpentine with up to 12 % ascending which made it almost impossible to stop in between. We made it quite fast up the hill where we were welcomed by a friendly but sleepy slovenian border officer who just waved us through.
next curve right, 175 degrees 12% up, go for 100 m, then sharp left, ...
During the descending through the now slovenian Alps we had a great view on the landscape which was covered with fog, where the sun started to come through. The first breakfast was next to the road with the snowy slovenian landscape in the back. Nice! Great to be on the road again and actually not knowing what will happen in the next months.
Welcome Slovenia!
There is nothing like a fresh breakfast in the Alps.
Next stop was Ljubljana and because we were quite early on the road we thought it would be a good opportunity to stop for a while to update the website and keep you updated.
The short stop extended into a longer internet café stop with a short walk through the beautiful city of Ljubljana.
Ljubljana is a very nice city. It was my first time there and I can just recommend it for a visit.. Even our stop was very short I really liked the city. There are a lot of old and barock buildings which are all very nicely refurbished. The people are very nice and – the women are beautiful. Next time I will definetely come here in summer.
Later in the afternoon we set off cause we wanted to go towards Zagred to find a place to sleep closer to the croatien border.
Ljubljana presents itself with her beautiful winter clothes.
Close to a place with a name we can’t really pronounce we leave the highway and set our camp on a lonely field where we can get a little wind protection from some bushes. The field is lit up with a fantastic light from a green house which also give us a perfect setting for a littlephoto shooting.
Fortunately this night seems to be not so cold. We give it a second try. The back of the car is shielded off as good as possible with our bags between the front seats, so that the cold air stays outside. I will go to bed now and try to fight against the cold. Have a good night.
