Attention and mainly support for the project was the goal I followed after the end of my studies in October. Now, almost a week before our departure and after two months of intensive work of preparations we are happy to have come quite far in this short time. For those who have subscribed to our newsletter already know that we are happy to announce the Swedish outdoor company Fjällräven as our exclusive equipment sponsor. They helped us a lot to put a cushion underneath our budget. Thank you very much! Just after our start in Sweden we will stop on our way through Germany in Munich where we will be present on the ISPO at the Fjällräven stand no.B6 – of course with our Land Rover. From here it will go on towards Kibera on the next day. For those of you who are within reach you are very welcome to pass by on the Fjällräven stand.

Since October we have set off a small avalanche. With the help of my school, Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weissensee we gave out a press release in Germany with a great feedback from newspapers, radio and filmers. Until now, design in a development aid context hasn’t been very present in the media. After two news articles, one in the Berliner Zeitung on the 21.12.2005 and one in the TAZ on the 04.01.2006 we are therefore very happy that the attention and the awareness for this is raising. Our goal is to show that design for development can be a useful tool to alleviate poverty by teaching constructive and creative problem solving techniques. The results will be of course presented after the project and will also be shown here on the website.
